A large Japanese Imari hard-paste porcelain charger or platter, crafted during the Meiji period (19th century). Featuring a barbed scalloped rim, the dish is intricately decorated in traditional underglaze blue, iron-red enamel, green, yellow, and gilded accents. The central medallion depicts a botanical motif, encircled by alternating radial panels of birds among blooming chrysanthemums, and reserves containing floral sprays against deep cobalt blue grounds.
