Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12 Coupe 1979 – Early series type pre-HE – Mechanical condition very good/excellent – 201,000 km – engine and gearbox rebuilt 30,000 km ago BODYWORK & PAINT This 1979 Jaguar XJ-S is a very beautiful example of the early series with a solid, structurally sound body. The paint was redone about a dozen and a half years ago, The chromes are in good condition for its age, The glass and lighting are in good condition as well. The rubber seals have been renewed, except for the rear window seal. The sills and floor are sound, with no known structural corrosion. TECHNICAL CONDITION The strong point of this Jaguar is its exceptional mechanical condition. Over the past few years, more than €12,000 has been invested in maintaining the vehicle, with invoices available to support the work carried out. Major works include, since purchase: brake overhaul, air conditioning, cooling system, ignition, shock absorbers, rear axle seal/leak-proofing. The original 5.3-litre V12 engine starts immediately, hot or cold, runs smoothly, and the automatic transmission shifts properly and smoothly. The engine and the gearbox have been rebuilt and have 30,000 km since overhaul by the previous owner. A restoration file is provided. Furthermore, the car has a history of invoices dating back to 1990, confirming regular maintenance. INTERIOR CONDITION The interior is original and finished in black leather. It has been well maintained and is in good condition, with only light wear in line with the car’s age. The seats, dashboard, headliner, and door panels are all well preserved and retain their original appearance. The car has not been modified, preserving its authenticity. The headlining has been redone recently, and all dashboard controls work, including automatic climate control.
