Probably European School, 2nd half of the 17th century. After Jacopo Palma il Giovane (1544–1628) Dead Christ, mourned by angels Oil on panel, ca. 37 × 30 cm. Overall dimensions including the frame ca. 50 x 43 cm. The wooden panel was previously extended at the top and bottom by about 1 cm each. Old devotional painting after a composition by Jacopo Palma il Giovane. The representation closely follows the engraving by Rombout Eynhoudts from around 1660, published in David Teniers the Younger Theatrum Pictorium. Condition with age-related craquelure, rubbing and traces of earlier restorations. Please note the numerous detail photographs. The pictured gilded frame from the 19th century is not part of the auction or valuation; it will be provided to the buyer free of charge with the painting.
