Molenaar, Johannes Petrus "Joop". Born 29 April 1914 (Rotterdam) - died 1990 (Rotterdam). In 1930 he changed careers and went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, where he received lessons from, among others, Aart Bijl, who encouraged the young Joop to devote himself to drawing and painting ships and harbors. Molenaar lived and worked in Rotterdam, where he was regarded as part of the "harbor painters" due to his specialization. He was a member of the Rotterdam Art Foundation. J.P.
