J.B. Maurice Vecker (1899-1988) - Nature morte au buste...

Oil painting on canvas by J.B Maurice Vecker (1899-1988) Still life with bust of Voltaire and antique books 24 cm x 33 cm (very rare subject) Description: Very beautiful and elegant oil painting on canvas depicting a classic still life in a “Cabinet of Curiosities” style. The work features a white plaster or marble bust of the writer and philosopher Voltaire (after the famous model sculpted by Jean-Antoine Houdon), placed beside three antique leather-bound books with careful gold tooling. The contrast between the dark background, treated with a generous texture, and the luminous whiteness of the trompe-l'œil bust adds great depth to this academic composition. Ideal for decorating a traditional library or study. LOT CHARACTERISTICS • Artist: J.B.
