The map offers an interesting overview of the Venetian Lagoon at the end of the 18th century, combining toponymy in German and Italian: Venice (Venedig): At the geometric center of the chart stands out the unmistakable fish-shaped form of the historic Venetian core. The urban area is finely subdivided internally to highlight the dense road and building network of the sestieri. The nucleus is protected to the south by the long fortified strip of Giudecca (Zucca). Murano: Located north of the historic center, it is clearly isolated and visible with its characteristic insular configuration tied to its historic glass-making. San Michele (S. Michael): Positioned between Venice and Murano, indicated together with the nearby S. Cristoforo. The Lido and Malamocco (Lido di Malamocco): The long coastal barrier that separates the lagoon from the open sea (or the Adriatic Sea), vital for the military and hydraulic protection of the Serenissima. Minor Islands and Cords: Minor islands and historical religious postings or lazarettos are mapped, including S. Clemente, S. Servolo, S. Lazzaro (isola degli Armeni) and the island of S. Elena at the eastern extreme. The period map preserves an excellent consistency. The outer margins beyond the contour line of the plate are wide, intact and clean.
