Italian school (XX) - Scugnizzo

This is a classic oil painting on wood of a boy with a straw hat and a pipe, often referred to as a 'Scugnizzo' in the Italian art tradition. The work is characterized by a loose, expressive brushwork and a nostalgic portrayal of daily life. This specific exemplar is presented in a decorative, antique-looking frame that enhances the mood of the subject. The 'Scugnizzo' style, referring to street children from Naples, is a beloved theme that symbolizes youthful carefree spirit and Italian culture.
