The work bears in the lower left the autograph signature "Guarneri" traced in an elegant contemporaneous cursive handwriting. The painting style recalls the great Italian portrait tradition of the early twentieth century, combining the precision of facial details with a softer, more vaporous brushwork for the fabrics and the fur.
