Bronze-gilt inkwell / desk writing desk — France, 19th century "SUSSE Fres Edt Paris" Elegant and imposing antique desk in gilded bronze, richly decorated with floral motifs, foliage, scrolls and relief ornaments. The piece features a beautiful rectangular base serving as a pen tray, decorated with rocaille work in finely executed detail. The rear part is topped by a decorative architectural element with a lid and a top handle in the shape of a pine cone. The sides are adorned with scrolls and foliate elements. The overall design showcases fine casting and chasing work and presents a particularly rich decoration, characteristic of French decorative desk items from the second half of the 19th century, in the Louis XV / Napoléon III taste. Marking: The underside of the piece clearly bears the mark “54 C. FRES PARIS”, visible in the photographs.
