Industria Ceramica Salernitana (ICS) - Elsie Dölker...

A pair of rare Italian Art Deco bookends (serre-livres) in majolica with polychrome painting, depicting on the left a man with a musical instrument/lute and on the right a woman in a blue gown. Designed by the artist Elsie Dölker (wife of Richard Dölker) for Industria Ceramica Salernitana (ICS) from the 1930s. Both are signed on the bottom with "ICS ITALY B.S./1" and a drawn fish. Note: small chip at one corner of the underside, right bookend (see photo). Furthermore, the bookends are in good condition, wear commensurate with age and use. Each object is packed with the greatest care and shipped insured.
