The chronometer is supplied with an extract from the archives. It is one of 9 special chronometers without a gimbal suspension, commissioned by Hermann Göring, Commander-in-Chief of the German Air Force. Hermann Göring was Reich Minister of Aviation from 1933 to 1945 and, from 1935, Commander-in-Chief of the German Air Force. In these roles, he oversaw the development and deployment of the Luftwaffe during the Second World War, before being replaced by Robert von Greim shortly before the end of the war. To our knowledge, only two of these nine chronometers have resurfaced to date: number 659 and the chronometer presented here, number 663!
