Icon of the Mother of God Odigitria, “She who Points the Way” from the Romanian school of the second half of the twentieth century. Hand-painted on a wooden panel, according to the Eastern iconographic tradition, with a broad gold background. The faces are particularly intense, deliberately archaizing, and the Virgin’s gesture of pointing to Christ as the “Way.” The warm color palette and the gilding confer the whole piece great presence and a devotional character.
