Todas las subastas / Arte contemporáneo / HÖK (1984) - A Bad Move For Mario - Vertical Extra Large XXXL
CONCEPT OF THE WORK In this piece, Mario faces one of his classic carnivorous plants, but the scene goes beyond the universe of the video game to become a metaphor for everyday life. The plant, about to devour him, represents all those situations that chase us and pressure us: stress, anxiety, obligations, and the fast pace of daily life. Mario tries to escape, as many of us do, moving through obstacles without knowing what the next one will be. The title “A Bad Move For Mario” plays precisely with that moment when a decision or a simple move can lead us directly toward a new problem. A funny and recognizable scene that hides a reflection on the pressure of our contemporary society. Original work hand-painted by the artist, where video game imagery and pop culture mingle with gestural painting, urban graffiti, intense colors, and multiple layers of pictorial intervention. ──────────────────────── HÖK ARTIST HÖK Artist’s works are part of private collections in more than 20 countries and have been exhibited in art galleries in Spain and Europe.
