Todas las subastas / Vehículos / Heuer - Rattrapante stopwatch - Valjoux 57 - Ref. 550/22” - 1960-1969
A rare opportunity for the top-automobilia collector. This Heuer Reference 550/22" stopwatch from 1969 is not just a timekeeping instrument; it is an icon from the most legendary era of motorsport. The link with Steve McQueen & Le Mans This specific model, prominently featured in the Heuer catalog of 1969, stems directly from the period when Heuer was the official partner of Steve McQueen's Solar Productions during the filming of the cult movie Le Mans. While McQueen wore the Monaco on his wrist, the pit crew trusted Heuer rattrapante stopwatches for the precision timing of lap times for the Porsche 917s and Ferrari 512s. Such a instrument is indispensable in any collection that wants to breathe the ambiance of the Mulsanne Straight. Technical perfection & rarity This example is equipped with the prestigious Valjoux 57 movement. Unlike standard stopwatches, this lot features a fully functioning rattrapante (split-seconds) function, recognizable by the characteristic red hand. The dial was the standard for professional racing teams in the 1960s for complex fuel and tire calculations. Features: - Brand: Heuer (Authentic pre-TAG) - Reference: 550/22” (Catalogued in 1969) - Movement: Valjoux 57 split-seconds (hand-wound, high-grade) - Diameter: 58.5 mm (Exclusive "Large Case" version) - Functions: Start, Stop, Reset and Rattrapante (split time) – all functions work perfectly. - Condition: Exceptionally beautiful vintage condition, with a razor-sharp white dial and the original black case finish. Investment: This lot is presented in the historical context of the 1969 Heuer catalog. (See photos 20 and 21) In a market where early Heuer instruments with a direct link to the McQueen era are exponentially rising in value, this 58.5 mm version is an absolute top investment!
