Hermès - PROFILÉ by Shan-Merry, 1974 - Foulard

Magnificent vintage Hermès silk scarf entitled "Profilé", designed by the artist Shan Merry in 1974. Only and unique edition. Hand-rolled. Made in France. Hermès Paris logo, copyright C. Presence of a composition label. A bit of history: "At the center of the design, framed by old bridle bits, two interlaced "H" recall the marriage of Émile HERMÈS and Julie Hollande in 1900. This monogram was affixed to the doors of the 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré store during the major works of 1924 and still adorns the elevator inaugurated at that time. A few decades later, Richard Nixon, then president of the United States, found himself blocked in front of staff and his bodyguards stunned. In memory of this adventure, the elevator was renamed after its illustrious prisoner. At HERMÈS, small history sometimes meets big history". According to Arfon’s edition square/art dictionary, it is considered fairly rare and sought-after - photo attached. Good vintage overall despite some signs of wear (2 last photos).
