Hermès Silk Square “The Geographer” Designer: Sandra Laroche This square takes its name from the corvette commanded by Nicolas Baudin and sent by Bonaparte, the 1st Consul, in reconnaissance of the southern lands of Captain Cook. At the four corners of the square are depicted Charles Alexandre Lesueur, painter of the expedition; Matthew Flinders, the English captain who crossed the mission; François Péron, zoologist, and Nicolas Baudin himself, who died in 1803 during the return.
