Herend Tris Tazzine – Decori: “Herend Fehér“

Exclusive set of three Herend Cup and Saucer Pairs – Decor “Herend Fehér“, “Nanking Bouquet Blue” and “Apponyi Green“ – Hungary, 1960s/1970s These splendid pieces in fine, hand-painted multicolored porcelain come from the renowned Hungarian manufactory Herend, founded in 1826. The lot offers two elegant cups with their respective saucers, representing three of the brand’s most historic, sought-after, and iconic collections: 1. Cup and Saucer – Decor: Herend Fehér (the Hungarian word “fehér” literally means “white”) • Features: The model presents a magnificent whiteness, enriched by exquisite gold trim and gilded decorations, enhanced by the characteristic raised-relief work on the porcelain. • History: The Herend Fehér motif is a unique and distinctive design of the Herend manufactory, often paired with discreet and very elegant motifs such as grapes or small birds, though the true protagonist is the purity of the white porcelain highlighted by the gold profiles. 2. Cup and Saucer – Decor: Nanking Bouquet Blue (color variant of the famous Nanking decor) • Features: The model features an enchanting central bouquet in cobalt blue tones, composed of stylized peonies (or related oriental flowers) and surrounded by scattered stems and leaves, painted with meticulous artistic skill. • History: The Nanking Bouquet model was introduced by Herend at the beginning of the 20th century. It gained particular fame and international popularity after being selected by King Boris of Bulgaria, establishing itself as one of the most prestigious decors of the Hungarian house. 3. Cup and Saucer – Decor: Apponyi Green (pattern code: AV) • Features: The model presents a stylized central peony, surrounded by a delicate garland of leaves and small scattered flowers, all rendered in a vibrant, deep green symbolizing renewal and freshness. The edge is adorned with a refined meander motif outlined in gilt. The Oriental inspiration and classical style make it a piece of timeless elegance. • History: Originally created at the request of Count Albert Apponyi (an influential Hungarian politician and diplomat, for whom this simplified version of the more elaborate “Flowers of the Indies” decor was devised), this pattern has become perhaps the most recognizable and beloved of Herend worldwide, capable of bringing a piece of European art history to the table. Technical Details and Conditions The models are embellished with refined 24-carat gold profiles and feature the characteristic raised-relief texture of the porcelain, known as the wicker-work (“Osier”) technique, faithfully reproducing and elegantly portraying the interweaving of wicker. The pieces are presented in excellent, first-choice condition. A restoration is present on the Apponyi Green cup, clearly visible in the photos. On the bottom of each piece is regularly stamped the blue factory mark bearing the shield, the inscription “HEREND FEHER”, “HEREND HUNGARY”, “HANDPAINTED”, together with the model number and the decor code. Based on the mark, production dates to the vintage period of the 1960s/1970s. Packaging and Shipping We guarantee professional, careful, and generously sized packaging, made with high-quality protective materials to preserve the porcelain’s total integrity during transport.
