Beautiful original engraving by Harmen Jansz. Muller from a drawing by Gerard Groenning depicting the "Parable of the Talents" told in Matthew 25:14-30. Plate 6 of the series "Thesaurus Novi Testamenti elegantissimis iconibus expressus continens historias atque miracula domini nostri Iesu Christi", consisting of about 228 sheets, published in Antwerp by Gerard de Jode in 1585. A specimen with wide margins, on laid paper with a watermark, in excellent condition, with only a visible publisher’s crease and a barely worn top margin (see photo). Signed at the bottom center "Harman Muller fe.', on the right the number "6" of the series, below the image the Latin one-line inscription "Inutilem servum...stridor dentium." The servant deemed "useless" cast into darkness. Two guards carry the servant, naked, into the prison and bind him with chains; in the background, to the left, the master and his guards supervise the imprisonment; other prisoners in the background to the right.
