Hairy white okenite with gemmy calcite inclusions...

From our selection of collectible minerals, we present a splendid group of Okenite with Calcite crystals from Malad Quarry, Mumbai, India. Moreover, it is characterized by white tufts of Okenite with a hairy, velvety appearance, arranged in elegant radiant spheres on matrix, in beautiful contrast with small gemmy, transparent Calcite crystals that show evident internal inclusions, elements that increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Okenite is a hydrated calcium silicate that typically crystallizes in slender radiant fibers, forming the characteristic fluffy cotton-ball spheres; the name was given in honor of German naturalist Lorenz Oken. It occurs in the cavities of basalt rocks of the Deccan Traps, in western India, often associated with zeolites and Calcite that form through hydrothermal fluids rich in silica and calcium in the spaces of cooled lava. The Mumbai area, and in particular the Malad and Pasan quarries, are among the most famous localities in the world for the beauty and perfection of these aggregates. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, even in the field of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for very rare exceptions always noted in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
