H. Bahlsens Keks-Fabrik - Emanuel Josef Margold (1888–1962)

Original, antique tin can from 1915 by H. Bahlsens Keks-Fabrik Hannover, designed by the Austrian artist and architect Emanuel Josef Margold (1888–1962). Margold worked for Bahlsen roughly from 1910 to 1917 and sparked a revolution in packaging design by transforming everyday objects into functional art pieces. This specific rectangular model showcases Margold’s distinctive geometric style: a deep red base color combined with a refined, zigzag Art Deco edge in cream and black. The lid features in the center a stylized relief of a rose, flanked by two diamond-shaped accents. The underside of the can bears the factory’s iconic, detailed relief stamp, which lists the medals won and exhibitions between 1904 and 1914.
