The shipping price is higher than usual because this is a very large painting on panel. Description of the work A grand and powerful composition by Gundi Falk, circa 2000. On a light blue background animated with broad black horizontal strokes and a few rhythmic curves, unfolds a cubist profile with immediate, sculptural presence. The face, built from simplified volumes, contrasts a broad pale yellow cheek, almost luminous, with dark, dense hair accented in pinks and grays. The eye, large and outlined with a thick line, the angular nose, and the stylized mouth articulate with economical means that clearly evoke Picasso’s lessons of the 1930s–1950s—without ever being a copy. The neck, treated in a dark greenish flat color, firmly anchors the head, while the bottom of the composition opens to a pale pink area striped with black verticals. The brushstrokes, nervy lines, and spontaneous graphics give the work its raw, vital character. A former contemporary dancer, Gundi Falk translates the face here as a body in tension: rhythm, controlled imbalance, and the force of gesture. Since 2011, she has collaborated with experimental photographer Pierre Cordier on chemigrams.
