Original French post-World War I lithographic poster designed by Guillaume Seignac (French, 1870-1924) for the Emprunt National 6% 1920. The allegorical composition depicts France and the United States as female figures exchanging a vessel marked "USA," symbolizing Franco-American cooperation in France's postwar recovery. Marianne, representing France, carries sheaves of wheat, an emblem of agricultural abundance, renewal, and reconstruction. Issued for subscriptions through The Equitable Trust Company of New York, 23 Rue de la Paix, Paris, and printed by Imprimeries Joseph-Charles, Paris / Avenir-Publicite, Paris. The Australian War Memorial confirms Seignac as the artist, Joseph-Charles as the printer, the 1920 date, and the work as a lithograph. Size: 36" W x 51" H.
