"SFERA", a polyurethane foam hemisphere with a ground-facing mirror function, painted in blue Guflac. Thanks to a counterweight, the sphere always returns to the correct position. Made by artist Piero Gilardi in 1972 for Gufram and today out of production. It measures 36 cm in diameter and weighs 3 kg. Excellent condition with some signs of wear. Gufram is a company of seating and home accessories founded in 1966, known for its influence in the field of industrial design and for helping revolutionize furniture aesthetics. Their sculptural objects show influences from various artistic movements such as Pop Art, Conceptual Art, Illusionism, Naturalism, and Modern Design. Gufram products are in the permanent collections of several European and American museums such as: the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Denver Art Museum, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Milan Triennale, and the Vitra Design Museum.
