Frankreich. Ende 19. Jahrhundert. Bronze, patiniert und feuervergoldet. Auf einem gestuften, rechteckigen Sockel ruht der Gehäusekorpus in Form eines Pfeilers. Die Schauseite des Sockels ist reich verziert mit applizierten, vergoldeten Lorbeergirlanden und Schleifenmotiven, flankiert von Rosetten. Die Plinthe weist einen Fries aus stilisierten Blattmotiven auf. Auf dem Gehäuse pfeiler eine vollplastisch ausgearbeitete, dunkel patinierte Bronzefigur einer antikisierenden weiblichen Gestalt (Muse oder Allegorie der Gelehrsamkeit). Sie ist in fließende Gewänder gehüllt und stützt sich, ein offenes Buch lesend, auf das Uhrengehäuse. Das vergoldete Buch liegt auf einem Lorbeerkranz. Die Figur besticht durch ihre detaillierte Ausarbeitung, insbesondere der Frisur mit kunstvollem Haarknoten. Feuervergoldetes Zifferblatt mit feiner Guillochierung im Zentrum, römischen Stundenstunden und gebläuten Breguet-Zeigern. Die Lunette ist mit einem dichten Lorbeerkranz-Relief verziert. Unterhalb des Zifferblatts eine vergoldete Applike mit vegetabilem Rankenwerk. Französisches Pendulenwerk mit Fadenaufhängung des Pendels. Halbstunden- und Stundenschlag auf eine Glocke. Das Werk ist voll funktionsfähig. Pendel und Schlüssel sind vorhanden. H: 50 cm. Altersspuren, Vergoldung stellenweise leicht berieben, Patina der Figur gut erhalten. The clock case rests on a stepped rectangular plinth, its architectural form resembling a pillar. The front of the base is richly decorated with applied gilt laurel garlands and bow motifs, flanked by rosettes. The plinth features a frieze of stylized foliate motifs. Surmounting the clock case is a fully sculpted, dark-patinated bronze figure of an antique-inspired female figure, representing a Muse or an allegory of learning. Draped in flowing robes, she leans against the clock case while reading an open book. The gilded book rests on a laurel wreath. The figure is distinguished by its detailed execution, particularly the elaborate hairstyle with an intricately arranged chignon. Fire-gilded dial with fine guilloché decoration to the center, Roman hour numerals, and blued Breguet hands. The bezel is decorated with a dense relief of laurel leaves. Beneath the dial is a gilt foliate applique with scrolling vegetal ornament. French clock movement with silk-thread suspension for the pendulum. Half-hour and hour striking on a bell. The movement is fully functional. Pendulum and key are present. Height: 50 cm. Signs of age; gilding slightly rubbed in places. The patina of the figure is well preserved.
