Ca. 550 - 500 BC. A marble relief fragment depicting a nude ephebe in profile to the left. His youthful head is bound with a broad fillet, with a finely carved eye, a straight nose, soft lips and a rounded chin. The hair is arranged in dense, finely incised waves, with longer locks falling over the nape. For similar see: J. Bowman, Treasures of Ancient Greece, p. 52. Size: 430mm x 390mm; Weight: 27.89kg Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier present on the French art market before 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
