GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS CO LTD; a George V hallmarked silver vesta case, with sliding drawer action for match storage, engraved to the front 'The Times', with the newspaper's clock emblem, and '1926, Ictus Meus Utilis Esto', (May my strike be useful), these vestas were given to male office staff at the Times in recognition that they had stepped in to keep the paper running during the General Strike of 1926, London 1926, 6 x 4.5cm, approx 1.772ozt/55.14g. Condition Report No signs of any dents, bends, pin holes, gouges, etc. There are a few small surface scratches, and the lid doesn't click closed. Lid also doesn't stay closed when turned upside dowen, but no signs of any other notable damages. Condition Report, Buyers and prospective Buyers are deemed to have satisfied themselves before bidding by inspection or otherwise as to (but not limited to) the physical condition (including defects) of the Lot and its description in the Catalogue.
