Beautiful terrestrial globe from about 1925. Diameter 32 cm and height 53 cm. Elegant appearance on a nicely carved wooden stand, a real eye-catcher. This globe was made by Wagner & Debes of Leipzig. Shortly after the turn of the century, this company took over the globe maker Ludwig Julius Heymann. A famous maker of school globes. This globe has been reworked by the cartographer Dr. H. Fischer. And, which is very rare, imported by J.H.M. Hopma in Groningen. Probably at that time as a corporate gift! Despite its respectable age, it is in fairly decent condition. Very beautifully detailed with political divisions and many other features, such as mountain ranges, ocean currents, rivers etc. and a multitude of inscriptions that continually delight you. Besides a hairline crack near the U.S., which is not surprising... only here and there a few small imperfections inherent to its age.
