Gargiulo". Conditions: The work is in excellent overall preservation. The painterly surface is sound, the colors are vivid, cohesive and there are no color losses, flaking, or evident restorations. The period golden wooden frame shows minimal and normal signs of aging that do not compromise its aesthetics. Stylistic notes: Fascinating and luminous seascape attributable to the Neapolitan School of the 20th century. The painting style reflects post-impressionist figurative influence and Italian macchia (spatter/spot) painting. The composition captures a coastal view with a serene and silent atmosphere, dominated in the background by Capri’s famous Faraglioni reflecting in the water. The artist demonstrates notable skill in the play of aquatic reflections and in the use of a rich, fluid and tactile brushstroke, capable of granting great three-dimensionality and light to the entire scene.
