Giovanni Contardi - Rubik's Cube Mosaic - Chromatic Modules III

Artist: Giovanni Contardi Title: Chromatic Modules III Year: 2026 Medium: Rubik’s Cube mosaic (wall sculpture) Materials: 48 original Rubik’s Cubes, MDF panel, archival industrial adhesive Dimensions: 45.8 × 34.3 × 7.8 cm Edition: Unique work Signature: Hand-signed on the reverse. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity with archival hologram. Ready to hang. Professionally packed for shipping. ‘Chromatic Modules III’ continues an ongoing exploration of colour, repetition and structure through a concentric composition of original Rubik’s Cubes. From the front, the work has an ordered, almost architectural quality. Viewed from an angle, its physical depth and the adjacent faces of the cubes become visible, extending the composition beyond the frontal surface. Each ‘Chromatic Modules’ work is unique and numbered in the order in which it was created. A new composition is developed only when there is a different rhythm, balance or tension to explore. The first two works were sold earlier in 2026, making ‘Chromatic Modules III’ the only one currently available. Giovanni Contardi is an Italian artist internationally recognised for his mosaics created entirely from original Rubik’s Cubes. His installations are permanently exhibited at the Rossini National Museum in Italy and at Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel at Disneyland Paris. His work was also mentioned by Ernő Rubik, inventor of the Rubik’s Cube, in his autobiographical book Cubed: The Puzzle of Us All (2020). Selected works, installations, and process documentation are shared on Instagram under the name JVENB.
