Gavina - Marco Zanuso & Richard Sapper - Chair (4) - Lambda - Steel

This set of four red chairs, model “Lambda,” was designed by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper for GAVINA between 1959 and 1964. These pieces are made of red lacquered stamped steel and show a beautiful patina and clear signs of wear. This gives these chairs a narrative quality and makes them truly unique pieces of furniture. The feet show slight dents from heavy use and might require a small restoration. The 4 chairs come with their original glides! Original condition – some still need restoration. This piece has been attributed on the basis of archival documents, such as period catalogs, designer archives, or other documentary sources: The New Domestic Landscape, Ambassador, p 42 / Masterpieces from the Vitra Design Museum Collection, von Vegesack, p 44-45 / Marco Zanuso, Burkhardt, p 92-97 / Forme Nuove in Italia, Pica, p 62 lot of 4 red lacquered steel chairs / L 39 x W 46 x H 79
