Gabriele d'annunzio - Importantes Lettres Signées...

Private, military, and diplomatic archive Fonds of remarkable historical unity and richness. The entirety of these documents comes directly from the personal briefcase of Vice-Admiral Jean Étienne Charles Marcel Ratyé (1863-1946), Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor and Head of the French mission to the Allied Naval Commission in the Adriatic in 1919-1920. This exceptional lot forms a true time capsule. It links high international diplomacy during the Fiume crisis in 1919 to the patrimonial roots of a great line of merchants and wealthy landowners from the Gard region (Nîmes / Saint-Gilles / Aubord), from the Enlightenment era to the 1920s. MASTER PIECES: THE EPIC OF FIUME (SEPTEMBER 1919) — TARGET ITALIA Gabriele D'Annunzio (1925) • Description: Miniature edition of the author’s first poetic work by G. Barbèra (Florence, 1925). Full dark leather binding richly decorated with lyres and gold-stamped tools, red page edges. Preserved in its original matching cardboard case, embossed with the name “D'ANNUNZIO.” Includes the author’s portrait and a 1922 handwritten dedication printed as an original facsimile. Occurred in Nîmes a few months before the Storming of the Bastille, between the Sieurs Larquier and Chabaud (merchants), concerning a large bourgeois residence and three shops located on Rue de la Jatte in Nîmes. Usual wear (era folds), very sound. • National Lease of the Republic (20 Brumaire Year 10 / 11 November 1801): Great legal act sealed under the Consulate, bearing the official fiscal stamp of the French Republic (“Direction des Bouches-du-Rhône”) and a large red wax seal still intact. Concerns the rental of shops in Nîmes. Good condition. • Agricultural Origin Subscription Contract (1 August 1841): Complete private legal act on two large separated sheets signed between Mr. Jean Étienne Ratyé (ancestor of the Admiral), owner of the vast Roumejan Estate (Aubord, Gard), and Mr. Figuier, farrier. Used condition. • Estate Land Account Book (24 July 1844): Detailed nominative accounting receipt listing agricultural engineering investments (terracing, construction of parcel bridges at Mas Blanc, Bargas, and Le Serein) for a total of 160.75 francs. She describes the panic and ravages of cholera morbus in the capital (“Don’t think I have cholera…”) and worries about the epidemic reaching Marseille and the Gard. • Influence Networks under the Restoration (Sept 28, 1819): Earlier letter in the lot, sent from Paris, detailing steps to introduce their son (Charles) at the court of King Louis XVIII, leveraging the friendship of Count de Chabrol (future minister) and the influence of the Prince de Polignac and the Marquis de Castellane. • Travel Chronicle by Stagecoach (Dec 19, 1829): Letter from Eugénie Ratyé written from the Hotel de Milan in Lyon, describing a dramatic steamboat accident on the Rhône (“the passengers got water up to the middle…”) which prompted her to continue her journey by stagecoach. BANQUE DE FRANCE & THE SAFE • The Admiral’s Briefcase (Original Case): Large historic document holder personally belonging to Vice-Admiral Jean Ratyé. Black pebbled leather, expanding sides, leather tab, and silvery metal lock (Good presentation condition, traces of old repairs inside, normal edge wear, missing key). A documentary artifact of historical interest and major provenance. • Era Cash Fund: 1 note of 1000 Francs “Commerce and Agriculture” (14 April 1927) and 2 notes of 100 Francs “Sully” (15 February and 21 June 1923).
