Gabriele d'annunzio - Importantes Lettres Signées...

Private, military, and diplomatic archives with remarkable uniformity and historical richness. The entirety of these documents comes directly from the personal satchel of Vice-Admiral Jean Étienne Charles Marcel Ratyé (1863-1946), Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor and Head of the French mission to the Allied naval commission in the Adriatic in 1919-1920. This exceptional lot forms a true time capsule. It links high international diplomacy during the Fiume crisis in 1919 to the patrimonial roots of a great lineage of merchants and wealthy landowners from the Gard region (Nîmes / Saint-Gilles / Aubord), from the Enlightenment era to the 1920s. MASTER PIECES: THE EPIC OF FIUME (SEPTEMBER 1919) — TARGET ITALIA Gabriele D'Annunzio (1925) • Description: Miniature edition of the author’s first poetic work by G. Barbèra (Florence, 1925). Full brown leather binding richly adorned with lyres and gilded stamps, red page edges. Preserved in its original matching cardboard case, embossed with the name “D'ANNUNZIO.” Includes the author’s portrait and the 1922 manuscript inscription printed in original facsimile. Very good condition. ROOTS & HERITAGE: HISTORY OF THE GARD (1789-1844) • Contract of the Ancien Régime (February 13, 1789): Grand notarized real estate exchange deed written on large ministerial paper of the time. It passed through Nîmes a few months before the storming of the Bastille, between Sieurs Larquier and Chabaud (Merchants), concerning a large bourgeois residence and three shop premises located on Rue de la Jatte in Nîmes. Worn condition (folds of the era, very sound). • National Lease of the Republic (20 Brumaire An X / November 11, 1801): Grand legal act sealed under the Consulate, bearing the official fiscal stamp of the French Republic (“Direction des Bouches-du-Rhône”) and a large intact red wax seal. Concerns the rental of shops in Nîmes. Good condition. • Original Agricultural Subscription Contract (August 1, 1841): Complete private legal document on two large separate sheets, signed between Mr. Jean Étienne Ratyé (great-grandfather of the Admiral), owner of the vast Roumejan Estate (Aubord, Gard terroir), and Mr. Figuier, farrier. Pertains to the conditions and rates for shoeing draft animals and maintenance of the 61 plow shares of the property. Used condition. • Land Management Accounts of the Estate (July 24, 1844): Detailed nominative accounting receipt listing investments in agricultural engineering (terracing, construction of field bridges at Mas Blanc, Bargas, and Le Serein) for an amount of 160.75 francs. Good condition. • Saint-Gilles Business Letter (June 10, 1840): Addressed to “Mr. Ratyé Proprietor, rue de la Bouquerie in Nîmes” with monarchist July postmarks perfectly clear. Good condition. INTIMATE & HISTORICAL FAMILY CORRESPONDENCE (1819-1835) Very important lot of densely handwritten letters providing a captivating sociological testimony of the 19th century. • Testimony on Cholera (1832 & 1835): Poignant letters written directly from Paris by Delphine Ratyé. She describes the panic and ravages of cholera morbus in the capital (“Do not think I have cholera…”) and worries about the epidemic reaching Marseille and the Gard. • Influence Networks under the Restoration (September 28, 1819): Earlier letter in the lot, sent from Paris, detailing steps to introduce their son (Charles) to the Court of King Louis XVIII, relying on the friendship of Count de Chabrol (future minister) and the influence of the Prince de Polignac and the Marquis de Castellane. • Diligence Travel Chronicle (December 19, 1829): Letter from Eugénie Ratyé written from the Hôtel de Milan in Lyon, describing a dramatic steamboat accident on the Rhône (“the travelers had water up to the middle…”) which compelled her to continue her journey by diligence. BANK OF FRANCE & THE CASE • The Admiral’s Satchel (Original Case): Large historical portfolio carry-case personally belonging to Vice-Admiral Jean Ratyé. In black grained leather with gussets, leather tab, and silver metal lock (Good presentation, traces of old repairs inside, normal edge wear, missing key). A period artifact of major historical interest and provenance. • Cash Box of the era: 1 note of 1000 Francs “Commerce et Agriculture” (April 14, 1927) and 2 notes of 100 Francs “Sully” (February 15 and June 21, 1923). As is (circulation folds). The lot is sold in its privileged discovery state, unsorted. The rich gallery of photos covers the entire fonds. Close-ups of the major signatures (D’Annunzio, Morosini, Countess Ratyé) and photos of filigree watermarks seen through light provide the absolute guarantee of authenticity for this exceptional lot.
