G. Capelletti - Damn design

The Beverly sofa by Ettore Sottsass for Memphis is stripped here of its original function and transformed into a relic. Reduced to a model, carbonized and placed on a pedestal, the famous piece loses its utilitarian role to acquire a sculptural presence. The burned surface preserves the object’s memory, while the fire redefines its identity, suspended between design, ruin, and monument. A gesture that converts an icon of radical design into a reflection on time, on destruction, and on the permanence of form.
