Fulgurite – Three Fragments of Vitrified Lightning...

These three fragments of fulgurite, gathered in the sandy expanses of the Moroccan desert, represent three different moments of the same primordial force: the passage of lightning through silica-rich sand. Each piece preserves the memory of a unique event, occurring in a fraction of a second, when the temperature exceeded 30,000 °C, melting the grains and turning them into a glassy, rough and irregular structure. The three shapes, about 67 mm, 60 mm and 27 mm respectively, show different characteristics: an elongated element perforated by small cavities, a second more massive and nodular, and a fragment more compact that reveals inside the typical gray-light fusion of fulgurite. In all of them you can recognize traces of embedded sand, areas scorched by heat, and surfaces almost sculptural, molded by a force that no hand could replicate. Fulgurites are rare natural objects, born from the direct contact between sky and earth.
