French Silver Pocket Watch with Swiss 15-Jewel Movement - 1900-1949

Antique French pocket watch with a Swiss mechanical movement, housed in a solid 800 silver case. A large and elegant antique pocket watch measuring approximately 49 mm in diameter and weighing approximately 88.8 grams. The watch combines a Swiss-made mechanical hand-wound movement with a French silver case, identified by the French crab hallmark for 800/1000 silver. A maker's hallmark is also present on the case. The movement is marked: “ANCRE – LIGNE DROITE – CHATON – 15 RUBIS” It is a traditional Swiss lever movement with 15 jewels, gilt-coloured bridges and visible jewel settings. The movement has the characteristic construction of late 19th/early 20th-century Swiss pocket-watch movements. The watch features a beautiful white enamel dial, blue Roman numerals, gilt decorative details, ornate period hands and a subsidiary seconds dial. The case and dial display signs of age and use consistent with an antique watch.
