Freddie Redd – Shades of Redd A stunning first US mono pressing of Freddie Redd’s Shades of Redd, released in 1960 on Blue Note (BLP 4045). This highly regarded hard bop classic features Redd on piano alongside Jackie McLean on alto saxophone, Tina Brooks on tenor saxophone, Paul Chambers on bass and Louis Hayes on drums. The album is a fantastic example of the sophisticated hard bop sound of the classic Blue Note era. This original pressing has all the features collectors look for: 47 West 63rd NYC address, deep groove labels, laminated cover, and the desirable “ear” and RVG in the deadwax. A genuinely hard-to-find and beautiful copy, especially in this condition. Condition: Cover NM-, exceptionally well preserved with only minimal signs of age. Vinyl NM-, likewise in outstanding condition. The only imperfection is a small, non-feelable hairline visible on the last picture, with no impact whatsoever on the music. A superb collector’s copy of this sought-after Blue Note classic.
