Fraraccio – Large Sfilato di Frosolone 25 cm – White ABS and 420 INOX steel – Italy Category Catawiki Traditional folding knives / Italian artisanal knifemaking Description Up for auction is this fascinating and dramatic Fraraccio Sfilato, a faithful modern interpretation of one of the most iconic models from the Frosolone knife-making tradition, historic Italian capital of cutlery. With an overall length of 25 cm and a blade of 11 cm, this knife represents the generous dimensions that made the Sfilato famous among farmers, ranchers, and traditional knife enthusiasts in Central-Southern Italy. The uniqueness of this exemplar lies in its modern white ABS handle, a practical and functional solution offering a comfortable grip that is immediately identifiable even when used outdoors. A contemporary reinterpretation that preserves, however, the spirit and characteristics of the traditional Sfilato of Frosolone. In addition to its traditional use in daily activities, this knife was often placed at the table during convivial moments for cutting cured meats, cheeses, and other local specialties. The blade is made of 420 INOX steel, a material valued for its corrosion resistance, ease of maintenance, and reliability in daily use. Produced in the early 2000s by the historic Fraraccio cutlery, this knife combines artisanal tradition with modern practicality, making it particularly interesting for collectors as well as enthusiasts of Italian regional knives.
