FRANK HOLL (BRITISH 1845-1888) MR ALFRED BAKER (1815-1893), FELLOW OF THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS Oil on canvas Signed (lower left) 75 x 62.5cm (29½ x 24½in.) Holl Reynolds, The Life and Work of Frank Holl (1845–1888), London, 1912, p. 226 Mr Alfred Baker was Senior Vice-President of the British Medical Association and Consulting Surgeon to the Birmingham General Hospital. On his retirement from the Hon Surgeoncy after thirty-three years' tenure of office, the Hospital Committee presented Mr Baker with a service of silver plate together with the present portrait, which was subsequently hung in the boardroom.
