Beautifully framed cross-stitch embroidery “Guardian Angel” – Lavender & Lace – Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum – ca. early 1990s A particularly atmospheric and decorative framed cross-stitch embroidery based on the well-known design “Guardian Angel” (LL18) by American designer Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum, released under the Lavender & Lace label. The embroidery depicts a loving guardian angel carrying a small child safely in her arms. The angel is rendered in warm, soft tones with accents of cream, beige, gold, green, old rose and burgundy. The elegant wings, the richly pleated garments, and the floral details give the piece a romantic and almost fairy-tale appearance. The design of “Guardian Angel” originates from the Lavender & Lace collection and is dated by sources to the early 1990s. Cross Stitch World It is a design by the well-known cross-stitch designer Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum, renowned for her detailed Victorian-inspired ladies and angels. The hand-embroidered work is beautifully stretched and is behind glass, which protects the embroidery while presenting it at its best. The frame Notably ornate is the richly decorated frame. It has an elegant sage green/blue-green base color, combined with extensive gold-colored ornaments. The frame features graceful scrolls, floral and leaf motifs, and decorative lattice details. The combination of green and gold beautifully complements the colors of the embroidery. The frame is made from a wood fiberboard/MDF base, with the decorative finish and ornaments applied to it. This gives the frame a rich and classical look without the weight of a solid wood ornament frame. At the back there is a hanging eye, so the work can be hung directly on the wall. Dimensions and details Outer frame size: approx. 57.7 cm high × 47.5 cm wide Inner size: approx. 44 cm high × 33.5 cm wide Weight: approx. 1.1 kg Embroidery material: textile/hand-embroidered work Technique: cross-stitch Frame: wood fiberboard/MDF, decoratively painted and featuring gold-colored ornaments Front: glass-covered Hanging: hanging eye on the back Colors: sage green, blue-green, gold, cream, beige, old rose, burgundy and natural earth tones Style: romantic, classical, Victorian-inspired Origin of design: United States Designer: Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum / Lavender & Lace Design period: early 1990s; the exact year this embroidered piece was made is not known. Decorative use A charming wall decoration that suits a classic, romantic, country, or vintage interior. The combination of refined embroidery and the richly decorated green-gold frame makes it a striking focal point above a cabinet, dresser, or sidetable, but also as a standalone artistic decorative element on the wall. Because of the depiction of the guardian angel with the child, the embroidery also has a warm, loving, and symbolic quality, making it a beautiful addition to a bedroom, nursery, hallway, or living room. A charming and decorative ensemble in which traditional handcraft, a romantic portrait, and a richly ornamented frame come together beautifully. See the photos to get a good impression.
