Frame - V Important Box Frame in Gilt Wood and Faux Burl Veneer - Venice

Description: Splendid and imposing example of a Venetian panel-frame, dating to the mid-18th century (the 1700s). The frame stands out for its pronounced monumentality due to a wide fascia measuring no less than 12 cm, adorned with a central painted finish imitating burl wood (warm brown and reddish tones) enclosed by molded profiles entirely gilded with gold leaf on bole. The construction on the back highlights the object's absolute contemporaneity, characterized by original solid-wood boards and period joinery. It comes from a prestigious private Venetian collection (oral tradition attests its original placement in a ducal/patrician palace accompanying a dogal portrait). Dimensions: External overall: 107 x 103 cm Internal opening (painting view): 82 x 86 cm Internal battuta (canvas housing): about 84 x 88 cm Width of fascia: 12 cm Thickness / Depth: 6 cm Condition: The item presents in its original state, either "to be restored" or to be preserved in its first patina. Normal signs of time are present, with charming craquelure on the gilding and old traces of woodworm (no longer active). A loss of material (absence of plaster and gilding) is noted at the lower left inner molded corner, as well documented by the detailed photographic gallery. Professional tracked shipping with reinforced custom packaging.
