Fr. 2200-E. 1928 Dark Green Seal $500 Federal Reserve Note. Richmond.

Fr. 2200-E. 1928 Dark Green Seal $500 Federal Reserve Note. Richmond. PCGS Banknote Choice Extremely Fine 45. Overall, "Gold Clause" $500 Federal Reserve Notes are tough to find relative to later series imprints such as the Series of 1934 and Series of 1934A. Yet that disconnect fails to strike at the rarity of individual districts. For Richmond, the Series of 1928 is a tough prospect with roughly 100 confirmed survivors, but the grade distribution among that figure emphasizes another disconnect. Here the bulk of known survivors show signs of prolonged to even circulation while lightly circulated examples are scarce in comparison and scarcely traded at best effectively underscoring the opportunity this "Gold Clause" $500 affords bidders. Estimate: $3,500 - $4,500. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
