Set of two Japanese ink/drawings – Four Immortal Poets (Sanjūrokkasen) – Japan – Early 19th century (Edo period) Description: Fine set of two framed Japanese pages with ink illustrations and waka poetry in calligraphy (hiragana). The images depict four legendary poets from the traditional anthologies (such as the Thirty-Six Immortals of Poetry or Hyakunin Isshu): 1: Ki no Tomonori (紀友則) and Fujiwara no Okokaze (藤原興風). 2: Chūnagon Kanesuke (中納言兼輔) and Minamoto no Muneyuki Ason (源宗于朝臣). Specifications: Origin: Japan Period: Early 19th century (Edo period) Material: Ink on thin Japanese paper (washi) Dimensions each: About 18 cm x 13 cm Condition: Good overall for age, with light signs of aging contributing to authentic character.
