Extraordinary Toio Limited Edition Matte Black, produced by Flos in 2018 in only 2,500 units to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Achille Castiglioni, one of the most important figures in Italian design of the 20th century. Originally designed in 1962 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Toio is one of Flos’ most celebrated and recognizable projects. Its language stems from the Castiglioni brothers’ idea of reinterpret­ing industrial elements and technical components, transforming them into everyday objects with a strikingly elegant character. This 2018 Limited Edition in Matte Black brings that historic project in a particularly refined version: the entire structure, the base and the cable are finished in matte black, with a hammered powder-coated finish that gives the lamp a contemporary and rigorous appearance. The distinctive structure consists of the base with integrated transformer, the adjustable hexagonal stem, and the metal reflector. The height can be adjusted from 158 to 195 cm, allowing the light to be directed and the lamp’s presence to be adapted to the environment. A COLLECTOR’S PIECE This version is not a normal Toio production: it belongs to a limited run of only 2,500 units. Each lamp is individually numbered and is accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity and the brochure dedicated to the Limited Edition. The edition’s authenticity is further identified through the dual hologram system, present on both the lamp base and the authenticity certificate.
