Todas las subastas / Arte contemporáneo / Florentijn Bruning (1963) - Bird flow
Bird Flow is a powerful, graphically constructed painting by Florentijn Bruning (born 1963), executed in oil paint and varnish on canvas. Against an almost even turquoise background, a strongly stylized bird-like figure appears, built from a dense network of organic loops, circles and winding lines. The compact body shape contrasts with the downward-facing head and the firmly set legs, making the depiction clearly figurative despite its abstract treatment. The color usage is pronounced and restrained: turquoise and light blue are intercut by dark wine-red outlines and bright white areas. In particular the flowing red lines determine the rhythm of the composition. Thinner white lines weave through them and reinforce the layered, almost drawing-like character. The combination of oil paint and varnish creates differences in coverage and surface and aligns with the direct, graphic visual language of the work. Dimensions of the work: 60 × 80 cm; with frame about 63 × 83 cm. Biography of the artist Florentijn Bruning (born 1963) is a Dutch visual artist who works with painting, photography and digital media. She is included in the RKDartists database and, around the turn of the century, took part in various exhibitions and art events. Thus her participation in Huntenkunst in Doetinchem is documented; her own exhibition documentation also lists presentations in the Netherlands and beyond. Wikimedia Commons In her oeuvre, recognizable images and a distinctive graphic line play an important role. Bruning works across the boundaries of different media. In her later work she developed, among other things, the long-running Mona Lisa Project, in which she repeatedly reinterprets the historical image of the Mona Lisa using painting and digital techniques. Her current practice includes painting as well as photography and digital art.
