House of Fabergé for Franklin Mint – “Forget-Me-Not” Musical Egg – Porcelain – Waltz of the Flowers – Very Good Condition Description 1. Object Description Offered here is the elegant “Forget-Me-Not” Musical Egg, created by the House of Fabergé for The Franklin Mint as part of the decorative Musical Eggs collection. The egg is made from fine porcelain with a lustrous, iridescent mother-of-pearl effect. Delicate blue forget-me-not flowers and green leaves decorate the surface, complemented by elaborate raised gold-coloured Rococo-style ornaments. The domed lid is crowned by an ornamental finial. The egg is supported by an elaborate gold-coloured pedestal with a wide decorative base, giving the piece an elegant and balanced presentation. The musical mechanism has been tested and plays very well, with a clear and attractive melody. Its iridescent porcelain surface, floral decoration and raised ornamental details retain a very attractive appearance. No cracks or major damage are visible. Minor traces of age or handling may be present on the underside and gold-coloured surfaces. Design and Musical Theme The design draws inspiration from the opulent decorative eggs traditionally associated with the House of Fabergé. Its combination of an egg-shaped porcelain body, floral decoration and elaborate raised ornamentation reflects the elegant revival styles that influenced many Fabergé-inspired collector’s pieces. The forget-me-not flower traditionally symbolises remembrance, lasting affection and cherished memories. Its small blue blossoms provide an attractive contrast to the iridescent white porcelain and warm gold-coloured ornamentation. The musical selection complements the floral design. Private Sale, Condition and Function This is a vintage collector’s item offered in its present condition. As this is an older mechanical movement, no permanent guarantee can be given for its future operation or running duration. The mechanism should be wound carefully and never forced once resistance is felt. Minor ageing, surface marks, patina, rubbing or variations in the gold-coloured finish may be present even when they are not immediately visible in every photograph.
