Extraordinary Welo Opal - Top Quality - Sterling Silver...

A jewel that captures all the magic of light: this 925 silver pendant houses a natural Ethiopian opal cut in cabochon, with a soft shield shape and balanced volumes. The gem, alive and translucent, displays a shifting palette of colors ranging from emerald green to intense yellow, up to pink and blue, with internal reflections that brighten under any light source. The opal comes from the volcanic highlands of Ethiopia, particularly the Wollo region, one of the most important mining districts for the production of hydrophane opals. These opals are famous for their ability to absorb and reflect light in a spectacular way, thanks to an amorphous hydrated silica structure, composed of about 3–10% water. The optical phenomenon of opalescence is due to the diffraction of light through microscopically regularly packed spheres. The hardness of Ethiopian opal ranges from 5.5 to 6.5 Mohs, making it a delicate yet extremely fascinating gem. Symbolically, it is associated with rebirth, spiritual evolution and the connection with water and the elements. In crystal therapy, it is used to stimulate intuition and positive energy. This pendant is ideal for those seeking authenticity, light and refinement, a unique jewel that embodies the mystery of the earth and the beauty of untreated gems.
