Exquisite Milky Blue Chalcedony Obelisk Obelisk Carved...

Elegant Obelisk in Madagascar Chalcedony with an artistic base in wood and brass — This specimen features an obelisk of chalcedony, a microcrystalline variety of quartz, characterized by a fibrous structure and a waxy or sericeous luster. Chalcedony typically forms in low-temperature and low-pressure deposits, often inside geodes or as fracture-filling in volcanic rocks, crystallizing from silica-rich solutions. Its chemical composition is SiO₂. The specimen is a carved and polished obelisk, which highlights its milky blue, almost transparent color. The glossy surface reflects light, emphasizing internal intrusions that create a layered and three-dimensional visual effect, typical of fine-grained formations of this gem. The blue tone, with variations in intensity, gives the piece a serene and refined aesthetic. The material provenance is Madagascar, an island renowned for its vast and diverse mineral production, including high-quality chalcedony deposits. Madagascar's geological conditions, with the presence of volcanic and metamorphic rocks, are ideal for the formation of this type of mineral, often found in concretions or veins. From an aesthetic standpoint, the obelisk represents a synthesis between the natural beauty of the mineral and the art of lapidary work. The tapered shape and sharp tip are not only decorative but evoke ancient symbolisms related to stability and vertical direction. The base, skillfully made in dark wood with polished brass supports, provides a chromatic and tactile contrast, elevating the piece to a design object as well as a mineral to collect. The obelisk is in excellent condition, free of fractures or significant surface abrasions. The cut and polishing have been executed with mastery, ensuring a flawless finish. The wooden and brass base is solid and stable, designed to emphasize the obelisk’s vertical grandeur and protect it, ensuring an optimal presentation for display. This piece is particularly suited for collectors who appreciate both the mineralogy and the art of stone carving. Its notable size and the quality of workmanship make it a focal point in any collection or setting. The combination of a Madagascar-origin chalcedony with a contemporary design distinguishes it as an item of notable aesthetic and collectible value, well beyond a simple mineral specimen.
