Diamonds have come together to form an expressive motif on the domed, round head of this yellow and white gold ring. A curved band of diamonds set in an offcut visually divides the ring into two equal halves. Similar to a Far Eastern yin and yang symbol, a large, individually set brilliant-cut diamond forms the center of each half. These two stones, each weighing around 0.36 ct, are set in bezels and slightly raised. Every conceivable part of the ring's dome, which is forged from white gold, is set with octagonal-cut diamonds. In total, we count 21 diamonds with a total weight of around one carat. The hand-forged ring, created around 1955, is in the tradition of the so-called "Toi-et-Moi" rings with its juxtaposition of two equally large diamonds, which are intended to illustrate the two lovers in two gemstones staged equally as protagonists. Here, the ring dresses the old idea in mid-century garb. With its glamorous presence and harmonious, mirror-symmetrical design, in which each part is in harmony with the other, the ring meets the demands of 1950s goldsmiths for perfection in design and execution. A wonderful goldsmith's work that came to us here in Berlin.
