EXCEPTIONAL ORANGE SAPPHIRE - GEM QUALITY SRI LANKA...

Superb natural crystal from Sri Lanka, remarkable for its luminous champagne-orange color, its transparency, and its extraordinary internal light play Magnificent natural rough sapphire from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) This specimen immediately stands out for its particularly delicate aesthetics: a clear and golden champagne orange color, with peach, honey, and yellow-gold nuances. Unlike strongly saturated orange specimens, this stone has a brighter, more crystalline tone that remarkably enhances its transparency. Under lighting, some parts seem almost to glow from within, giving the crystal a highly vibrant appearance. A superb champagne-orange color Color is one of the main attractions of this specimen. The stone develops a dominant light golden orange, accompanied by champagne, peach, honey, and slightly coppery nuances. Some areas become almost yellow-gold when illuminated, while thicker sectors display a more sustained orange coloration. This subtle palette creates a result very different from traditionally colored sapphires. The orientation of the stone strongly influences its appearance: when rotated under a light source, its color evolves and successively reveals tones that are more golden, more orange, or almost colorless in the most transparent zones. A particularly seductive transparency One of the most remarkable visual qualities of this crystal is its beautiful transparency. Large portions of the stone allow light to penetrate deeply into the material. This transparency reveals the crystal’s natural internal structures and creates a genuine impression of depth. Some parts show remarkable clarity for a specimen kept in its rough form. Light then traverses the gem before being reflected by its numerous natural surfaces, giving rise to particularly bright flashes. The few inclusions and internal structures visible reinforce its natural character and become aesthetic elements themselves when observed under magnification. A remarkable play of internal light The morphology of this specimen is particularly interesting. Its numerous natural surfaces and internal fractures act as small irregular mirrors. Light is successively transmitted, reflected, and refracted through the stone, producing a multitude of bright zones. Notably, several curved and bright surfaces create effects that are almost mirror-like inside the crystal. Under a point light, the stone can shift from a relatively soft champagne-orange to a glowing gold, with strong white and yellow flashes. Powerful vitreous luster As expected for gem-quality corundum, the specimen presents a very beautiful vitreous luster. The smoothest surfaces reflect light strongly, while the more textured areas create a multitude of tiny sparkles. The contrast between these shiny surfaces and the perfectly transparent zones gives the stone great visual richness. Macrophotography particularly reveals this architecture: despite its dimensions of only a few millimeters, the crystal becomes under magnification a true mineral landscape. A unique rough morphology The stone is kept in its natural rough form and is not faceted. Its irregular, slightly triangular silhouette gives it a lot of character. Several relatively flat faces sit beside more complex and highly reflective fracture zones. This morphology allows appreciation of the gem as a true mineral specimen rather than as mere material intended for cutting. Each face has a different texture, and every rotation profoundly changes the way light traverses the crystal. Specimen characteristics Mineral: Natural corundum – Sapphire Origin: Sri Lanka (Ceylon) Weight: 0.37 carat Dimensions: 4.5 × 3.7 × 2.5 mm Dominant color: Golden champagne orange Nuances: Light orange, peach, honey, yellow-gold and champagne Transparency: Transparent to translucent depending on the area Luster: Vitreous, very bright Shape: Natural rough crystal Cut: Non-faceted Quality: Gem quality Type: Natural collection-grade gem Ceylon: an iconic provenance for precious stones Sri Lanka, historically known as Ceylon, is one of the great historic gem regions on the planet and remains particularly famous for its corundums. Beyond the famous blue sapphires, Sri Lankan deposits are also known for the color diversity of their corundums. Yellow, orange, pink tones and their various intermediate nuances form a particularly interesting field for color sapphire collectors. This stone beautifully illustrates this diversity with its delicate golden-orange champagne coloration. A remarkable gem for a collection This specimen possesses a particularly appealing balance between color, transparency, luster, and natural architecture. Its light coloration allows light to penetrate deeply into the crystal, further highlighting its internal structures than in more opaque or highly saturated stones. It thus constitutes a superb piece for a collection dedicated to colored natural sapphires, Sri Lankan corundums, rough gems, or gem-quality crystals. A superb natural rough sapphire from Sri Lanka of 0.37 carat, remarkable for its golden champagne orange color, its fine transparency, and its extraordinary internal brightness — a small gem whose full richness is revealed under light and magnification.
