Art Nouveau vase in acid-etched multilayered glass from Établissements Emile Gallé, Nancy, France. Beautiful multilayered vase with an acid-etched dark-green decor of ferns and climbing plants on a white to mint-green background. The vase is in very good condition with minimal signs of wear. The vase is marked Gallé with a star (Gallé à l’étoile), which refers to the period 1904-1906. Dimensions: Height: 31.5 cm, diameter (widest): 11 cm. Photos are part of the description. Émile Gallé, a visionary of the Art Nouveau movement, sparked a revolution in glassmaking in late 19th-century France. Gallé worked from Nancy and combined his passions for botany, poetry, and chemistry to create glass pieces that were both technically innovative and deeply symbolic. His signature techniques included cameo glass, acid etching, and wheel-cut work, often layered with natural motifs such as flowers, insects, and landscapes. The Gallé workshop, the Cristallerie d'Émile Gallé, became a center of artistic excellence where skilled artisans brought his intricate designs to life. After his death in 1904, production was continued under the leadership of his son-in-law, Paul Perdrizet, who preserved Gallé's legacy while introducing new designs. The studio remained active into the 1930s, focusing on multilayered cameo glass with delicate floral and landscape themes.
